SYNAPSE MUSIC INITIATIVE A collaborative performance initiative An outline
Synapse is a creative artistic, collaborative initiative which connect artists, producers, managements and orchestras to develop new and innovative performing opportunities. The initiative functions on the basis of a coalition of multiple partners each of which contributes its part toward the project's goal -- i.e. the creation of a concert series or an individual concert, a concert tour, multi-disciplinary performance(s), a commission of a new work, etc. A successful Synapse project brings professional benefits and heightened public awareness to each partner.

Ownership & control Synapse is lead by the OMF management which functions as the organizational hub of the project. OMF is solely responsible for the project definition, choice of partners, execution, and financial and quality control.
The basic partnership formula Synapse's basic formula states that each partner contributes its best and affordable commodity or service to the project thus reducing its participating cost and gaining the greatest benefit from it. OMF is responsible for project design. It maps out the partnership structure for each project, selects/recruits the partners, defines each partner's role through negotiations, etc. so to achieve the needed team configuration and ensure projects success with maximum security and benefit to each participant.
Partners' rolesFeatured artists: These individuals contribute their services for free but have their travel and lodging expenses covered by the organizer. The Orchestra: The participating orchestra provides production management, on site production logistics and needs, rehearsal and performance venue, local advertising, and may possibly pay for the whole or a part of the orchestra payroll.
Oregon Music Festival's Roles Selects the featured artists and pays for the orchestra payroll either in part or in full, depending on the arrangement with the partnering orchestra. Provides free publicity locally and nationally/internationally and may participate financially in project production costs.
Timeline Synapse projects require one or more years of advance planning for their execution. Partners' commitment to the project is crucial and is firmed up through a legal contract.
